The Seminary Consortium for Urban Pastoral Education (SCUPE) is an interdenominational Christian agency that offers innovative educational programs for urban ministers and is the convener of the Congress on Urban Ministry.
The Congress on Urban Ministry is a gathering devoted to making SCUPE’s unique brand of theological education available beyond those studying in the classroom and to resource the urban church with cutting edge practice and theory.
Since 1976, SCUPE has been devoted to educating individuals from all backgrounds as effective change agents in urban communities. Utilizing the educational and training theories of adult experiential education, SCUPE provides both academically accredited courses and non-academic programs. SCUPE endeavors to think prophetically and imaginatively about the direction of our global civilization as evidenced in our cities. Our programs are designed for individuals interested in pastoral ministry, community development, and social justice.
SCUPE is comprised of eleven seminaries from eight different states and ten different denominations. Our academic program in frequently expanding and currently includes:

– Center for African American Theological Studies (learn more about CAATS)
– Nurturing the Call (learn more about NTC)
– Master of Arts in Social Justice & Community Development (learn more about MASJCD).
Graduates from these programs have assumed numerous leadership positions in local churches and community organizations and have contributed substantially to urban ministry writing, theology, and practice.
